This oak frame is in the Golden Triangle of Cheshire. It’s just one of several parts of a new Wilmslow project. With others in Prestbury and Alderley Edge it shows a particular approach. I describe this approach under “Client Focus”, below.
What is the Golden Triangle?
- Location Wilmslow, Cheshire
- New entrance
- Focus for arrival
- Traditional
- Sustainable materials
- Sympathetic extension
Wilmslow is one of the most sought after places to live in the UK and falls within the Cheshire Golden Triangle. There are many interesting homes and buildings in The Golden Triangle.
This is one of those projects that just transforms the outside of the house! Usually the first thing you see when you walk or drive up to a house is the front door and porch area. It’s a statement. And can show you an insight to the home within.
It’s a focus on the arrival at your home, for you and your visitors. The link between home and the outside world. So it must say “Welcome!” And can create interest and value. This house is in a desirable location and the owners wanted to create a dominant element that would enhance the property and make it more inviting. An oak frame porch also has the practical element of sheltering visitors.
Client focus.
My Wilmslow project is designed in a traditional form with the roof and columns all made from renewable oak. Providing ample space to enter easily. Oak is a hardwood and one of the main choices by many builders and manufacturers. It has a longevity many other materials cannot match.
Your oak frame will be designed with and for you. Then I will work with oak frame specialist Welsh Oak Frame with plans and drawings. The aim being to make sure the finished design is both sympathetic and practical. Reflecting our original vision. Yet easily buildable. Therefore cost efficient.
Here is another project to be supplied by Welsh Oak Frame. With Jackson Homes we are creating a new home in Little Budworth.
This project is a good example of my client focus. Meaning I will design in the way you want. As my client. Not in the way I want! So as the architect I am not imposing my own taste.
